The DNVB14 single-crystal diamond is retained by flexure tabs on the rear of the CDH30 holder. The optic is mounted closer to the back surface of the holder, allowing for access to the optic at more extreme angles from the rear.
Features
- Non-Metallic Holders for Unmounted Square Optics
- Mounting Solution for 2.0 mm to 4.5 mm Square Optics (See Table to the Right for Details)
- Compatible with Optics 0.45 mm to 0.55 mm Thick
- Ø1/2" Outer Diameter Fits Standard Ø1/2" (Ø12.7 mm) Optic Mounts
These adapters are designed to accept square optics and have a 1/2" (Ø12.7 mm) outer diameter compatible with standard Ø1/2" (Ø12.7 mm) optomechanical components, including our Ø1/2" (Ø12.7 mm) fixed mirror mounts, SM05 lens tubes, and 16 mm cage components. Models are available for 2.0 mm, 3.0 mm, 4.0 mm, and 4.5 mm square optics; see the Specifications table on the right for the corresponding clear apertures. The bodies of these optic holders are made from Delrin®* while the 0-80 retention screws are made from Nylon, ensuring that there are no metallic parts that could interfere in applications utilizing high-strength electric or magnetic fields.
Optics are retained by flexure tabs on the rear mounting plate (see the photo to the right). This plate is in turn attached to the main body with a pair of 0-80 Nylon flat-head screws. See the Installation tab for more details. Alternatively, the optic can be permanently retained in the main body with an adhesive compatible with Delrin®* like the NOA68 optical adhesive.
These optic holders are compatible with square optics from 0.45 mm to 0.55 mm in thickness. This includes Thorlabs' entire line of Quantum-Grade and Electronic-Grade Single-Crystal Diamonds as well as our 4.5 mm square Surface Enhanced Raman Substrates.

Exploded View of the Square Optic Adapter Assembly
The square optic is retained by flexure tabs on the rear flexure plate. Use the following instructions to assemble the optic holder without damaging the optic.
- Using tweezers, place the optic in the optic seat of the main body. If the optic has a larger face, ensure that it is the surface in contact with the main body.
- With one hand, align the flexure plate with the main body, making sure both flexure arms are in contact with the optic.
- Without releasing the flexure plate, use a 2.5 mm flat head screwdriver to begin tightening the screws into the main body.
- Alternate tightening the two screws until they are snug and approximately flush to the top of the flexure plate. The screws are made from nylon so do not overtighten.
