S1TM06 and S1TM09 Adapters with Mounted Aspheres
This animation shows the orientation of the lens for insertion into our aspheric lens RMS microscope objective adapters. The correct lens orientation is engraved on the adapter as well.
Features
- Mounts Hold Threaded Aspheric and Achromatic Lenses
- Thread to Thread Adapters with SM05, SM1, or RMS Threading
- 30 mm Cage Plates
- Rubber O-Ring on SM-Threaded Mounts Minimizes Unwanted Adapter Translation
- RMS Adapters Allow Aspheric Lenses to be Inserted into Microscope Objective Systems
Thorlabs' Aspheric Lens Adapters are designed to hold our mounted aspheric and achromatic lenses in our extensive line of SM05- and SM1-threaded lens tubes and 30 mm cage system assemblies. The SM-threaded lens adapters make it easy to mount aspheric lenses in our standard LDM21 and high-power TEC-cooled laser diode mounts where they can be used to collimate or focus laser diode output. The 30 mm cage plates allow lenses to be mounted in cage assemblies for collimation and focusing.
The range of aspheric lens applications is further enhanced by our selection of RMS-threaded adapters that can be used to incorporate our aspheric lenses into any optical system that uses the same RMS threads that microscopy objectives use. Please note that the ExxRMS adapters require the aspheric lens to be inserted threads first into the RMS-threaded side of the adapter, as shown in the animation to the right. The correct lens orientation is also engraved on the adapter for ease of use.
We recommend using Spanner Wrenches to secure mounted aspheric lenses into these lens adapters. Spanner wrenches also allow the lens adapters to be easily threaded into lens tubes. The appropriate spanner wrench for each aspheric lens and lens adapter is given in the tables below.

I've tried to import the Step file and the Solidworks file into Inventor. Both files only contain surface models. jdelia

(posted 2022-07-14 15:46:37.353) I like using your SM1 threaded adapters for mounted aspherical lenses, along the lines of S1TM06. The rubber ring in the SM1 thread is perfect for doing coarse adjustments of the lens position by rotating the optic in a threaded housing. I would like to do the same with an RMS-threaded optic, but I haven't seen a part for that on your website. It would essentially be S1TM06, but with RMS internal threads. Does such a part exist, or would it be possible to develop one? jdelia
(posted 2022-07-18 01:16:01.0) Thank you for contacting Thorlabs. While we do offer some SM1-external to RMS-internal adapters (SM1A3 and SM1A3TS), we unfortunately do not carry an equivalent to the S1TM06 which would have a Buna O-ring to minimize adapter translation. I could certainly pass along your request to our engineers through our internal suggestion forum as an idea for a future product however. Apologies that we do not currently have something to offer.  (posted 2022-03-30 13:42:04.24) Hi, I have some aspheres with M10 mount but there is no good solution for fixing M10 parts onto RMS mounts, while you have that for the other M sizes. Is it possible to get it for M10? jdelia

(posted 2018-10-30 16:37:22.027) Can the adapter S1TM09 connect the 532 DPSS laser to the CVH100 mount? Thanks. YLohia
(posted 2018-10-30 05:13:03.0) Hello, you can use the S1TM09 for this purpose, however, please note that proper temperature control is very important for the DJ532 series laser diodes for linewidth, wavelength, and power stability. The diode is also susceptible to damage and reduced lifetime due to lack of active temperature control. For this reason, we strongly recommend the LDM56 mount with a temperature controller and the LDM56DJ adapter. oskar.armbruster
(posted 2016-06-15 12:08:03.703) The E12RMS is a great adapter and I think a version for mounting M12 lenses in a microscope with M27 x 0.75 would be a perfect addition! besembeson

(posted 2015-06-30 17:20:53.92) It would be nice to have an adapter with external M12x05 threads and internal SM05 threads, e.g. to mount a lens tube on a USB camera (which uses M12 lenses). besembeson

(posted 2013-01-14 14:15:00.0) Response from Jeremy at Thorlabs: Unfortunately we do not have a spanner wrench specifically for the S05TMxx at the moment. We are currently looking into adding spanner wrenches for this whole series of adapters.
While not ideal, I have used the SPW801 with these adapters before and it seems to work pretty well for my experiments. The blades for the SPW801 would need to be turned 180° though. cbrideau
(posted 2013-01-11 16:54:52.0) Can we get something like the SPW909 but for the SM05 threaded adapters? I'd like a wrench that engages the pinholes on the S05TMXX adapters. jjurado
(posted 2011-08-08 14:58:00.0) Response from Javier at Thorlabs to barney.william: Thank you for your feedback. The reason for the tight fit when using the S1TM08 is to ensure that the lens is not easily misaligned once it has been adjusted to a particular distance with respect to the laser diode. For smoother motion, you can use a small amount of Apiezon M grease. Be sure not to get any grease on the optic or laser diode. I will contact you directly for further support. barney.william
(posted 2011-08-05 17:16:14.0) When using the S1TM08 with the TCLDM-9 to collimate a diode laser, the O-ring fit is so tight that I cannot get the adapter far enough into the hole to collimate the laser properly. In fact, I snapped the tips off my adjustable spanner while trying to do so. Would it help to use a lubricant, and is there one you recommend? apalmentieri
(posted 2010-03-26 15:46:36.0) A further response from Adam at Thorlabs to Eric: To add to my response below, we also offer the AD1T, which has a flat 1" outer diameter and a SM05 threaded internal diameter. This may be a little more suitable for your application. Adam
(posted 2010-03-26 15:42:51.0) A response from Adam at Thorlabs to Eric: I think this is a great idea and will propose this customer-inspired idea to our mechanical engineering team. Please note we do have a similar product without the threads. The part number is AD1 and it has a flat 1" diameter, with a 1/2" diameter hole designed for mounting 1/2" optics in 1" lens tubes/mounts. To hold the optic in place, we provide a set screw. eric.whittaker
(posted 2010-03-26 14:42:08.0) An adapter ring similar to the S1TM range but with SM05 internal thread and retaining rings for 1/2" optics would be useful. |
