Features
- Support Frame with All-Steel Construction
- Casters and Leveling Feet Included
- Ships Fully Assembled
- Compatible with Both Metric and Imperial Breadboards
- Sorbothane Pads Provide Damping Between the Breadboard and Frame
- Optional Under Shelf
The PFM series of support frames are designed to provide a lightweight, portable option for supporting optical breadboards. The all-steel construction and vibration-damping Sorbothane pads provide an excellent base for an optical breadboard (compatible breadboards are listed on the Breadboards tab above).
The frame comes with casters to facilitate relocation without needing to remove the optical breadboard and its contents. Once the frame is in the desired location, the four leveling feet can be lowered to level the table and lift it off the casters. These support frames are shipped fully assembled. An optional under shelf is also available.

In addition to the breadboards listed in the tables above, Thorlabs carries a large supply a breadboards suitable for almost any application. Many of these breadboards can be supported by the PFM series frames; however it is important to remember that the maximum recommended load for these frames is 200 kg (441 lbs), which includes the mass (weight) of the frame, breadboard, and all of the items on the breadboard.

 (posted 2022-07-10 02:06:40.82) It is possible to a 600 x 600 mm board on the 600 x 900 mm support frame? cwright
(posted 2022-07-12 06:42:15.0) Response from Charles at Thorlabs: Thank you for contacting us. The breadboards are not fixed to the frame as their weight is sufficient to hold them in place. So, while the 600 x 600 breadboard would physically fit on the frame, it would need to rest across the pads at one end and at the centre, and it would not be centred on the frame. The reduced weight would also make it less secure. Domantas Berenis
 (posted 2020-05-26 05:13:57.423) Hello,
I am curious if sorbothane damping pads between tabletop and the frame are single use or reusable?
At our laboratory few of these frames are used to hold wooden tabletops and now we have the need to exchange them to aluminum ones. So Is there a possibility to do that without harming the pads?
Or if the pads will be harmed - is there a possibility to buy new ones? DJayasuriya
(posted 2020-05-26 10:50:33.0) Thank you for your inquiry. Yes these are reusable. If the pads gets damaged while changing we would be able to supply spares. DJayasuriya

(posted 2015-08-26 12:40:11.6) Is there any way to get one of these stands with a custom height? I have a board (PBG12106 - UltraLight Series II Breadboard, 36" x 24" x 2.2", 1/4"-20 Taps) that needs to be raised a maximum of 47" and is adjustible down anywhere between 1/4"-1/2". rcapehorn
(posted 2015-08-28 11:47:07.0) Response from Rob at Thorlabs: Thank you for your interest in our breadboard frames. Unfortunately at this time we cannot offer customised versions of our PFM range. We can however offer customised versions of our upgraded ridged frame series, PFR, found here - http://www.thorlabs.de/newgrouppage9.cfm?objectgroup_id=1871. The maximum height we can offer for this range is 1000mm. If you would be interested in a quotation for one of these custom frames, please contact our Technical Support team with your request - techsupport@thorlabs.com. david.gherardi
(posted 2014-11-26 11:21:43.727) Is there any way to securely attach a breadboard (eg MB6090/M) to one of these frames (eg PFM52501)? The overview suggests that the breadboard only rests upon Sorobothan pads. Although I can see how this approach may be suitable in a 'controlled' lab environment, in more chaotic enivornments (eg a production line) it can be more important for everything to be firmly bolted together and secure. cdaly
(posted 2014-11-26 04:49:25.0) Response from Chris at Thorlabs: No, there is no way to fix a breadboard to these frames as they are. They are only intended to have the board rest on top. tor
(posted 2011-01-10 14:13:38.0) Response from Tor at Thorlabs to Matt: Thank you for your interest in our MB2424 and our PFM52502. Please note that the breadboard is designed to rest on the Sorbothane pads on the frame, so relative motion between the two breadboards must be considered in choosing these over the MB2448. The hole patterns for the breadboards can be viewed in the AutoCAD PDFs: http://www.thorlabs.com/Thorcat/6200/6279-E0W.pdf http://www.thorlabs.com/Thorcat/14000/14052-E0W.PDF
The 1/4"-20 taps on 1" centers would have the same spacing in this configuration. matt.giacalone
 (posted 2010-12-15 15:36:54.0) I am buying (2) MB2424 to bolt up to a pfm52502 frame table. Im assuming (2) 2 x 2 plates will bolt up the same as a 4 x 2 plate?
What is the bolt pattern dimensions of the table?
Thank you,
Matt |

- Max Load: 50 kg (110 lbs)
These large under shelves span the rear of the support frame and provide a large shelf depth, while not impeding user movement in front of the frame. The surface provides extensive storage both at the rear and sides of the frame and allows heavy items, such as controllers and power supplies, to be stored away from the work surface. The size of the shelf corresponds to the size of frame with which it is to be used. The shelves ship complete with attachment brackets and all necessary screws.
