Thorlabs' Slip Rings and Clamps are both designed to enable post mounting of cylindrical components. With slip rings, lens tube systems and other cylindrical components can be mounted by passing them through the clear aperture of the ring and then securing the flexure lock. In contrast, the clamps enable drop-in installation and removal of cylindrical components, as shown in the image to the right. These clamps and slip rings can be attached to any of our Ø1/2" posts or other rigid construction components. They are available for SM05-, SM1-, SM30-, SM1.5-, SM2-, or SM3-threaded lens tubes; C-Mount extension tubes; as well as cylindrical objects with a variety of other diameters (see tables below).
Thorlabs also offers a variety of other fixed mounts, including a series of threaded fixed lens mounts.

I think you could propose C25R/M as a more secure alternative to the slip-on clamp RM1A/M. cdolbashian
 (posted 2021-10-05 10:26:07.0) Thank you for reaching out to us at Thorlabs with your suggestion. one of the notable main differences between these two devices is the ease of positional adjustment. The C25R must be slid over the end of the 1" post, while the RM1A(/M) can be added or removed directly on the side of a 1" post. While they serve similar functions, they are not direct substitutes in certain experimental conditions. That all being said, in certain applications, the C25R(/M) would indeed be a good alternative. These Slip Rings are designed to mount cylindrical components using a flexure mechanism that is actuated with a locking screw. The SM05RC(/M), SM1RC(/M), SM30RC(/M), SM1.5RC(/M), SM2RC(/M), and SM3RC(/M) are ideal for mounting SM05-, SM1-, SM30-, SM1.5-, SM2-, and SM3-threaded lens tubes, respectively. The C05RC(/M), SM087RC(/M), C1RC(/M), C127(/M), and C2RC(/M) are designed to mount cylindrical components with outer diameters of Ø1/2", Ø0.865", Ø1.00", Ø1.27", and Ø2.00", respectively. The C12.5RC(/M), C25RC(/M), and C50RC(/M) are designed to mount cylindrical components with outer diameters of Ø12.5 mm, Ø25 mm, and Ø50 mm, respectively.
The small body design and flat sides of these slip rings make them versatile and easy to integrate into existing systems. The locking screw is conveniently located along the top surface of the mount for easy access. These slip rings can easily be mounted to any of our Ø1/2" posts via the bottom-located 8-32 (M4) tap. Refer to the table to the right for locking screw hex sizes.

These clamps are designed to enable easy installation and removal of cylindrical components from optical systems. In particular, the SM05TC, SM1TC, SM30TC, SM1.5TC, SM2TC, and SM3TC are ideal for mounting SM05-, SM1-, SM30-, SM1.5-, SM2-, and SM3-threaded lens tubes, respectively. The C127TC, C15TC, and C174TC are designed to mount cylindrical components with outer diameters of 1.27", 1.50", and 1.74", respectively. The C059TC is designed to hold our Multimode Fiber Optic Rotary Joint and our Optogenetic Rotary Patch Cables.
To remove a lens tube, simply unscrew the locking screw, flip the mount open, and lift the tube straight up and out. This feature is useful for users who do not have the room to slide the entire component out of a mount due to tight space constraints.
This series of clamps can easily be mounted to any of our Ø1/2" posts using the #8 (M4) counterbore on the bottom of the clamp, or to our mini-series posts using either a #4 washer and 4-40 cap screw or an M3 washer and M3 x 0.5 cap screw. Refer to the table to the right for locking screw hex sizes.
